20+ Food Ideas for an Ayurvedic Diet (Ayurvedic Foods List)

20+ Ayurvedic Foods for you Diet.

Ayurvedic Foods List

As you prepare for your cleanse, an important thing to keep in mind is that you want to be aware of which dosha you are cleansing. This will help you make choices around which foods to add to your grocery list when you go shopping for your cleanse.

Since it is spring time, most of you will be aiming to cleanse excess Kapha from the system.

While this is typically true for most, it is possible that you may be experiencing an excess of any of the doshas during your cleanse.

Let’s face it,

When it comes to trying to decide what to eat during a cleanse, I think we can all agree that the last thing you want is to have to think too hard about what to include in your next meal.

Whether it’s Vata, Pitta or Kapha that is elevated in your system, Ayurveda has a way of categorizing all foods so that you know which foods will send you more out of balance, or help to pacify your imbalance.

This article is packed full of 20+ foods that you can eat for the specific dosha you are working to pacify during your cleanse.

Check them out below!

But First, It’s important to know what dosha is out of balance.

The first thing you’ll want to do is make sure you are clear on what your current imbalances are, and you can do this by speaking with someone who can help you assess what is out of balance for you.

But Who?

I happen to offer free sexy sacred balance assessment calls where we can talk 1-on-1 about what is out of balance so you have an idea of what to address when you do your cleanse.

Another option, if you don’t have time to set up a free call, would be to take an online quiz.

My favorite is the constitution quiz offered by Banyan Botanicals!

I’m an affiliate of this company, and for good reason.

I truly believe they are doing a great job at spreading tons of valuable information on Ayurveda! When you take their quiz, you will get some extremely accurate information about your current imbalances that will help guide you on what choices to make as you cleanse.

While the quiz is incredibly insightful, sometimes it can still be hard to understand the nature of your imbalance, so if you aren’t 100% clear, feel free to reach out for a call or check in with your practitioner before starting your cleanse.

All right, now on to that food list!

Ayurvedic Food list to pacify the Doshas

Once you are clear on what doshas are elevated, you can check out the list below to give you an idea of which foods will pacify which dosha,

This is not an all inclusive list, but it will give you more insight on what foods you can add to your fridge for your cleanse! Many of these foods were recommended by Dr. Vasant Lad at the Ayurvedic Institute.

I’ve also labeled what foods are in season at what time so if you enjoy shopping at the farmers market, or you have a co-op near by, you should be able to find what you are looking for.

Ayurvedic Tip!: It’s a good practice to eat seasonal fruits and veggies! They are typically cheaper to purchase at your local co-op or grocery store, and they help you to stay more connected with the rhythms of nature! Your Body will thank you for it!
